Note from Sister Sami Smyth

Hello all! My name is Sami Smyth and I am a member of Theta Chi chapter from Virginia Tech. Currently, I am an AmeriCorps member at the Greenbrier Learning Center in South Arlington. GLC provides affordable and fun afterschool and summer programs for low-income third to fifth graders at three sites. On October 14, 2012, we will be participating in the Accumen Solutions Race for a Cause to try and raise money for GLC, as well as 9 other non-profits in the area. We earn money based on how many people sign up for the race and select GLC. The best part about signing up and selecting GLC? You don’t have to show up for the race for your registration to count towards us! Essentially, you would be donating the registration fee to the 10 non-profits that are participating. We would really appreciate your help!! Thank you so much from myself and the rest of the members of the GLC team!! On Sunday, September 30, 285 women were welcomed to Alpha Gamma Delta sisterhood at University of South Carolina in Columbia, marking the largest colonization effort in Alpha Gamma Delta's history. The selection of 285 women brings Alpha Gamma Delta to a chapter size comparable to the other Greek groups on campus. "The women I met during the colonization process repeatedly mentioned their desire to help others and to be dedicated to their studies. These women are leaders and scholars and will be the foundation of a great chapter for years to come," said Liz Harriss York, International Vice President-Extension. "I am so thankful for all of the efforts of our volunteers and staff members that worked together to make this a proud, historical moment for Alpha Gamma Del
